The Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) took a decision to switched off the facilities of Wi-Fi Internet in Campus which is provided to the students in hostels to prevent misuses.

This all is to be decided after seeing the case of suicide by BTech student Madhuri Sale (21) because of her bad performance in academics for the past 12 months.She had been completely broken from her inside and then she decided to be committed a suicide.
After the mid-term semester exams, which will be over on November 22, the authorities intend to raise a proposal in this regard before the institute Senate after seeing all these happenings.
At present,4,900-odd students have round-the- clock access to Internet in their hostel through Wi-Fi facility in hostels as well as in College campus also.If the proposal is accepted, they will be deprived of Internet facility from midnight to 8 am. The main server of the Wi-Fi system of internet will be switched off at midnight for saving a misuse of the internet through all over the night to cut sleepless nights and ignored their studies.
